FIRST Discoveries Summer Science Day Camps are listed below. Access

can only take online registrations this year, so please plan accordingly.
Robots, Robots, Robots, ages 11-15
June 26-30, 2006
Is there such a thing as too many robots? Teams will use the
new Vex Robotics System to design robots, take apart, and rebuild
robots and finally compete in an exciting FIRST-style competition
on Friday afternoon. This week will be chock full of hands-on
problem-solving for students new to building and those with some
experience.
Jr. Invention Challenge,
ages 9-11

During these weeks of camp we will explore the futuristic realm
of science and technology with applied robotics. During this
week of camp, we will use the LEGO Mindstorms system to design, build,
and program autonomous robots to explore revolutionary challenges
that are only as limited as your imagination. On Friday, we will
show off our engineering marvels in a friendly competition.
Girls FIRST:
It’s My Business!, ages 12-15
July 10-14, 2006
Girls: do you want to run your own business someday? This is
your chance to learn how! A local CEO will join us as we venture
into the world of business and manufacturing. Our designated
CEO will give us a real-life manufacturing plan at the beginning
of the week and by Friday, each team will have a marketing plan for
their new invention.
More Robots, Robots,
Robots, ages 11-15
July 24-28, 2006
Recommended for those who have some experience with building
or programming. This camp is an excellent follow-up to Robots,
Robots, Robots. Teams will use the new Vex Robotics System
to design robots, program, and rebuild robots and finally compete
in an exciting FIRST-style competition on Friday afternoon. This
week will be chock full of hands-on problem-solving and programming. Intelitek,
the creators of Easy C, will be here to teach you how to program
your Vex robot so it will run autonomously.
FIRST Adventures, ages 6-8
July 31-Aug 4, 2006
Imagine a grain of sand as big as a mountain. Can you think of
an animal so small you can't even see it? During this camp, we
will work on teams using LEGO to explore the many sizes of things on
our planet, from smaller than a grain of sand to larger than a mountain. On
Friday, we will showcase our projects for family and friends. |
