Greetings from the mountains, the deserts, the valleys and the beaches of Southern California!

Southern California has pretty much everything! Generally, the temperatures are comfortable year round. It does get quite hot in the summer and the high deserts and the mountain areas get quite cold (and get snow) in the winter. Surfers frequent the California surf spots year round but in the winter they do put on their wet suits! Most postcards you see of Southern California are taken in the winter. The reason for that is simple... Southern California sparkles like a jewel in the winter months. The snow capped mountains are a beautiful contrast to palm trees and cactus! In the summer time, the view is not quite so pretty. The marine layer and smog contribute to a reduced visibility.
