I was 13 years old the first time I saw Madrid. I did not understand a single word of Spanish and had never been out of California. From the moment we set foot on the ground in Madrid, everything was different. It is not just what you see with your eyes... it is the sounds, the smells… and everything else that makes a place what it is.

I had gone to live in Spain with my family. We were initially transferred for a stay that was to last about 18 months. We ended up staying 5 years and I stayed on another two years after high school.

Through these postcards and my recuerdos (memories), I would like to invite you to travel with me de Madrid al cielo!
