On my first visit to Paris in 2005, I stayed at Familia Hôtel in the Latin Quarter. From the balcony of several of the rooms, you can see Notre Dame. The Latin Quarter was the perfect place for me to begin my adventures in Paris. Notre Dame was just a short walk away on the Ile de la Cité, an island in the middle of the Seine River, which was once the city center.
