Tourism

During the last twenty years, the Dominican Republic has developed into a major Caribbean tourist destination. There are three main tourist centers. One has grown around Puerta Plata on the north coast; another one is spreading between Boca Chica and Bayahibe on the south coast while the third and most famous one is stretching from Punta Cana to Bávaro and Uvero Alto on the east coast. However there are countless interesting spots, especially in the less populated southwestern part of the island, that are still waiting to be discovered.
