An Interview with...
Student Ambassador
Marydith

5th Grade Student

What is your earliest childhood memory?  About how old were you?

My earliest childhood memory was when I first came to MSOC.  I don't really remember anything but it was like a party day.  I'm not sure.  Probably it was when my brother was going there and I was just there because my parents brang me.  I was probably about 2 or 3 years old.

What would you like to be when you grow up?

When I grow up, I would like to be either in the military or a novelist.  I think I should be better at vocabulary if I want to be a novelist.  If I want to be in the military I think I should just be brave, faithful, and helpful to this country.  I seem interested in these things because I like to read and I want to serve this country.

What grade are you in and what are your favorite subjects in school?

I am in 5th grade and my favorite subjects are PE and math.  I can't believe hardly anyone in my class like it!  Oh well.  I like math because I'm just good at it.

What are your most difficult subjects (or most boring)?

My most difficult subject is science.  We took this CTBS test and I did really bad on the science part, I could just tell.  On most of the 'science words' I don't even know what they mean.  My most boring subject is Language Arts.

What do you like to do outside of school?

I take piano lessons which I don't really like that much.  Another thing I like doing is playing my gamecube.  On my gamecube I'm starting a collection of Sonic games.  I got all the adventures on the gamecube which are Sonic Adventure DX Directors Cut, Sonic Adventure2:Battle, and Sonic Heroes.  I've beaten all the games and all the stories but I haven't gotten all of the emblems for Sonic Heroes.  On SADX and SA2:B I got all of the emblems.  I am a big fan of Sonic the Hedgehog.

In your school career so far, what was the most educational moment you can remember?

The most educational moment for me was when we were learning about Medieval Times, Egypt, Greece, Rome,Art, Oceanography, and the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World.  Medieval Times was interesting and we went to Medieval Times the resturant.  On Egypt I learned really interesting things about the ancient times.  On Greece I learned about the Greek Gods which was really fun.  On Rome I learned about Ancient Rome.  On Art I learned about different types of art and we did this monthly project that we had to paint a picture of one of the paintings of our assigned artist.  We obviously studied the ocean and its animals on Oceanography and on the Seven Ancient Wonders we made small models of one of the wonders.

What was our favorite school field trip up to this point?

It was hard for me to decide which one was better, Astro Camp or Catalina and I chose Astro Camp.  I liked Astro Camp better because it was fun and exciting.  The best part I thought was when we went on night walks and when we went to the gym.

Did you experience any field trips that you did not like?

I can tell all my other classmates are going to put 'Tall Ships' but luckily for me I didn't go.  If I went to that field trip it would've been that.  But anyways I enjoyed all my field trips and I did not dislike any of them.

How long have you been going to a Montessori School?

For almost my whole life I've been in Montessori.  So far I have been attending MSOC for 8 years.

What is Montessori?  What do you like best about attending a Montessori school?

I think I remember hearing this somewhere, a person named Maria Montessori made the school.  I like attending the Montessori school because it's small (I have to admit) and it is easy to find your friends.  It is a private school.

What has been your favorite activity using Imagiverse?

My favorite activity so far is checking out the interviews.  I hope we do something like the Mars Rover Project because I never got to do one.

Do you talk to your parents about Imagiverse?

No, I never did.  I just asked if I could go on to Imagiverse and they would let me.  I just know they wouldn't really be interested in it because my brother just wants to play games, my mom does other things, and my dad usually just does business on the internet.

What would you like to see at Imagiverse that has not yet been implemented?

I would like to see interviews of other people, I mean other children like me.  I thought it would be nice because I already know about my classmates.

Do you have a favorite interview so far?  If so, who?

I like Tony Pyke's and Bob Raab's interview.  As you know, I want to be in the military so that's why I like their interviews.

What is your favorite quote?  Who said it?  Why is it your favorite?

Well I actually have three.  I got them all in a quotation book.  "Never give advice in a crowd." by Arabian Proverb.  I've done that before.  I only wanted to help my friend but then other people that are around would here and say "Thanks for the advice."  The other is "One enemy can do more hurt than ten friends can do good." by Jonathan Swift.  I used to have a lot of enemies but then I read this quotation so I hardly have any enemies in my class.  The last is kind of long but oh well.  "We give the name scientist to the type of man who has felt experiment to be a means guiding him to search out the deep truth of life, to lift the veil from its fascinating secrets, and who, in this pursuit, has felt arising within him a love for the mysteries of nature, so passionate as to annihilate the thought of himself."  When I first read that quotation I didn't know what it meant and kept reading it and reading it and I guess it is only about why we have scientists, I have no idea.  Well that's one of my favorites because it's from Maria Montessori.

Comments a year later... 6th grade

What would you like to be when you grow up?

I really don't know anymore.  A lot of people tell me to be an artist because I'm good at it but I really want to do something worthwhile.  I really don't know yet.

What grade are you in and what are your favorite subjects in school?

I'm in 6th grade right now and my favorite subjects in school are PE, Spanish and French.  They are all very easy!

What are your most difficult subjects?

My most difficult subject is science.  I don't get it.

What do you like to do outside of school?

I take piano lessons.  I'm starting to like it more because I'm able to play the songs I like.  What I really like to do is listen to music.  I like all types but I'm more of a fan of Rock and Christian Rock music.

How long have you been going to a Montessori School?

I have been at Montessori School of Corona for 9 years.

Do you talk to your parents about Imagiverse?

Hmmm... no.  But I still do tell them when I'm doing some Imagiverse project though.

Do you have a favorite interview so far?  If so, who?

I like Tony Pyke's and Bob Raab's interview.  I admire them because they are in the military.

What is your favorite quote?  Who said it?  Why is it your favorite?

Okay, this will sound weird but I thought this was a good quote: "If you want to know what a man is like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals."  That was by Sirius Black from Harry Potter and I forgot which book, although technically it was J. K. Rowlings, I guess, because she wrote the books.  That is a really good quote.
