National Center for Montessori Education Conference

The Mars Robotics project was presented to teachers at the National Center for Montessori Education (NCME) annual conference at the Town and Country Hotel in San Diego, April 11-13 2003.  The Mars and Earth landscapes drew the attention of teachers, many of who said, "My students would LOVE this."

Steven Dworetzky, who developed the project and the curriculum, was on hand to discuss it with teachers and answer their questions.  Steven brought along some of his classroom tools: a motorized International Space Station from LEGO, a Mars Exploration Rover from K'nex, and a remote control "Sojourner" rover (a model of the 1997 Mars rover).  Children particularly enjoyed driving the Sojourner rover across the Martian landscape.
