Wildflowers and California golden poppies form colorful patches through the San Jacinto mountain and desert areas. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway takes visitors from the desert floor in Palm Springs on a 2 and 1/2 mile ascent to the top of the San Jacinto Mountains. In the summer, when it might be 110 degrees or more in the desert, the mountaintop is a welcome relief from the heat. In the spring, you might leave relatively warm desert temperatures to have a snowball fight at the top of the tram. The view from the mountain and on the trip up the mountain in the tram is exquisite!
