Can you see from this the gridiron shape that the monastery is supposed to have? Thank you for the dear little bunch of flowers you sent in your last letter.
Maude
This monasterio was built for Felipe II (King Phillip the Second) during the period 1563 to 1584. The Real Sitio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial is its full name. It is a palace, a monastery, an incredibly beautiful basilica, a museum and a library. It is also a school. Imagine being able to take classes in a building that existed more than 200 years before the United State became a country!
