Newfoundland and Labrador

Postcard courtesy of Stephanie Wong

Many species of whale feed off the coast of Newfoundland.  When the whale dives into the water, a circular patch of water appears on the surface.  It's quite a peculiar feature.

Caption: Playful humpback whales are common in Newfoundland and Labrador during the summer months.  Adults can reach 45 feet in length.
