The Earth's Smallest Continent

Australia is the smallest continent on Earth.  It is often called "The Land Down Under" because it is in the far southern hemisphere.

The seasons in Australia are opposite from the seasons in the Northern Hemisphere.

The primary language in Australia is English.

Geology of Europe

Australia is on the Australian Indian Plate.  You probably know that we are not talking about dinner plates.  A plate, geologically speaking, is the part of the Earth's crust that floats on that hot molten rock layer of the Earth called the mantle.

Australia has many different plants and animals that cannot be found in other parts of the world.

Climate and Seasons

The seasons in Australia are opposite those in the Northern Hemisphere.
