QUESTION:
Do you like math now?

ANSWER from Steve Mitchell on 24 May 2002:
Sometimes it is fun to figure out answers to things I don't know.  I think the hardest part of learning math is learning how to say things in "math."  When you see a word problem, it is describing a math concept using English words.

QUESTION:
Do you like animals?

ANSWER from Steve Mitchell on 24 May 2002:
I have hardly ever met an animal I did not like.  Animals are like people and they have personalities.  After you get to know one really well, you can almost predict what it will do.

QUESTION:
Have you ever taken your dog or any other pet to Space?

ANSWER from Steve Mitchell on 24 May 2002:
Nope.  He hates to fly.

Seriously though, it is so expensive to send anything to space right now, you really need a good reason for a person or pet to go, or even something as small as a pen.  If I want to send a hair dryer to space I have to budget space in a vehicle (usually not as big as some of your cars), fuel to lift it out of earth's gravitational pull, and power to run it.  It is not easy to send things into space.

[Most people at NASA and JPL stay here on Earth to do their jobs.  Steve has never gone into space.]
